Cardiology and Nephrology

Canine cardiology, the management of feline hypertension, and nephrology are key strategic areas for Ceva. Accordingly, the company devotes significant resources to research and development in order to offer innovative solutions in animal health.

As a result of these developments, Ceva was the first to introduce spironolactone to veterinary medicine, an active ingredient previously used exclusively in human medicine. Later, also as a pioneer, Ceva offered a combination of spironolactone and benazepril, which contributes to improving dogs' quality of life and the efficacy of treatments.

The 2013 acquisition of Sogeval further strengthened Ceva's professional expertise. The company expanded its product portfolio for the treatment of congestive heart failure in dogs while enriching its range with innovative technologies and dosage forms such as DÉLICAMENT® technology and easily divisible breakable tablets.

DOGS

Nowadays, more and more dogs are being diagnosed with heart disease, accounting for approximately 15% of the canine population. There is a high demand from owners for their veterinarian to recommend a product that both improves the dog's quality of life and extends its lifespan. Just as in human medicine, congestive heart failure in dogs usually requires the combined administration of several medications. Ceva offers a wide range of products that veterinarians can use in their daily practice. Some are designed to prevent abnormal heart remodelling, while others promote the excretion through the kidneys of fluid accumulated in the body.

As an innovative company, Ceva not only provides medicines for practicing veterinarians, but also offers tools and continuing education to support their daily work. Furthermore, a dedicated app for pet owners helps objectively determine if a veterinary checkup is required based on their pet's resting respiratory rate.

CATS

Ceva has developed a unique formulation for the treatment of feline hypertension, enabling veterinarians to recommend a safe and effective medication to pet owners.

Hypertension is often referred to as a "silent killer" because it can go unnoticed in cats for a long time, while causing severe damage. One in six cats over the age of seven suffers from this disease. It primarily affects the target organs: the eyes, kidneys, central nervous system, and heart.

Early diagnosis is crucial. Annual blood pressure measurement is recommended for cats over seven years of age, as well as for those with kidney disease or thyroid issues. Measuring blood pressure in cats is a quick, simple, and painless procedure.

Treating hypertension can prevent or reduce target organ damage. For example, proper treatment can even prevent blindness! Furthermore, it improves the cat's quality of life and enables a longer, healthier life.

Ceva strives to inform veterinarians and pet owners through awareness campaigns, educational videos, and publications.
